Hi,

Anyone knows where I can find a replacement drive? Mine seems to have a mecanical problem where it doesn't recognise that there is a disk in it...

I found another question in the forum with no answer dating back to 2009. But I'm going to take a chance.
Very hard to find that thing.

Thanks

Don't know if you tried Route66Studios.com
They don't list one, but I sent them an email asking. Will post the replay here.

Thanks

I saw the listed a S900 drive, but it seems it is different. I've been searching for days on the net and the conlusion is that it will be a PITA to find!

Did you try http://www.vstservice.com ?
The site says 'out of stock', but you might keep bugging them.

Yeah I saw them.120$ for a floppy is a ripoff. And they overcharge shipping.
I found out about them in some forums and they pretty much all feel the same...

I found some French guy who is modifying floppies for many machines. It would cost me half of vstservice even coming from France. I contacted him and he told the support for the S950 is halfway done.

I have a S900 wich works and I'll use this one till I find a drive.
It sucks because I have the full ram upgrade on the 950!

That's life with old stuff.

Keep me posted if you see anything.

Thanks Rhino.

A little update.

I just talked to a tech I know and he told me it could be the spring of a floppy metal protector. When I bought the S950, there was one stuck in the drive and it pulled out easily. Then everything worked fine until sudennly I was gettin that "Drive not mounted" error.
There is a small spring holding that thing closed on the floppy disk, and my tech thinks it might be stuck somewhere keeping the drive from recognising the floppy disks.

Seems I'm opening up an S950 tonight!
