Changing ESQ-1 Battery

Anyone have any experience changing the battery on the model where the battery is all squished next to the sequencer cartridge:

I have ok soldering skills and the battery ready to go. Any advice welcome.

I understand some have done it by cutting off the old battery tabs and soldering the new one right to the the 'stubs' still on the PC board. The old battery is soldered on the BACK SIDE of the pc board thru holes. I recommend the hard way: Remove the keyboard and the mainboard and solder the new tabs into the holes - from the rear.

+1...to really do it right, you need to remove the PCB and solder the battery to it from the underside. It's a pain in the rear, but it will ensure the battery is secure and that you don't drip solder on the topside components or accidentally hit something with the soldering iron.

I labeled all of the connectors with a Sharpie and took lots of photos before I started tearing things apart and had no issues.

Yep, I'll pick a day when I'm organised to do it and have a steady hand. I thought about not bothering as I don't really need to save sequences and it only effects the 40 internal patches, but I seeing as I have the battery just sitting here, it would be strange not to.

Good idea with the photos and sharpie.
