JP-8000 : Power-On Question

Post by synthRodriguez » Thu Apr 21, 2011 11:17 pm

Question for JP-8000 owners. Just bought one off eBay.

When powering the unit on, do you get a solid green bar across the top half of the display and a quick flash of all led's just before "Roland JP-8000" shows up?

Mine does, and when the led's flash I get a healthy >snap< in the outputs if the volume pot is turned up.

Is this normal behavior?

I hope it's healthy... 'cause it happens on mine too! :D

Ok, thanks for the verification.

The manual does say to turn the volume down when powering up and powering down.

Better do what it says then. It's best to turn your volume down on any synth before powering on, just in case it's one of those that emit power-on noises, to prevent potentially blowing mixer inputs, speakers, headphones, ears etc.

Yeah I think mine did that. The power-on noise is fairly soft IIRC, and I never bothered adjusting the volume before turning it on.
