How would a JD990 sound without the Vintage card but...

Post by atlantida » Tue Nov 15, 2011 2:49 pm

Hi guys!

I just wanted to test one thing with my JD990 but the Vintage card is stuck and impossible to remove via the hatch.

The test: How would the patches on the Vintage card sound after I saved many of them to a RAM-card AND then remove the Vintage card? Vill it still sound using other wave data?

I like the Vintage patches but the waves are pretty similar so I may sell the Vintage card if the programs would still work with the generic JD wave data.

i think you'd have to manually change the waves of each osc to the onboard ones for each patch.

Aha, I see! I've checked and it seems that I have to make notes on a paper about what waveform were used from the card and then look for similar stuff from the ROM-memory. I just don't know yet how it would react to the absent Vintage card...I mean I would hope that the synth OS itself would search for similar wave forms so that I still get a good patch...hehe.

that would be too clever!

but just think, you might end up finding cooler waves to use.

if you got the wave list for both onboard and the vintage expansion you could at least swap a saw for a saw for eg.
