E-MU E4K weak key

Post by Spadz » Mon Feb 27, 2012 4:18 am

Hi,

I have a really like new E4K that suddenly has a key that the velocity response is lower than the others.
This machine is literally new so I don't see how it could be because of dust and usage.

Anyone has an idea before I decide to open it up? Ideas as such as what to look for...

Thanks

Spadz

I had an e4k for awhile and sometimes it would act weird and I would go through all the recalibration features in the master menu and then it would be fine. I had to do this every few months or so. I don't think it will really help out, but it's worth a shot I guess.

I only ever took my apart to replace the tact switches and encoder so I can't say what the keybed looks like.

Hi,

I tried that but it didn't work. There are no calibration for the keys...
I opened it up and can't see s**t how it's built.

Yeah, it sounds like a physical problem. There are more tests in the master section, but I checked my e4xt and none of them relate to the keyboard. Does it do it over midi too? Like if you patch it to another synth with velocity to something, is that key weaker there too?

I think you'll have to get the keybed out of there and take a look. I have no idea what it looks like, but if it's only affecting one key and it does the same over midi, then I would think it must be a physical problem.
