The US postal service is generally not able to track packages sent internationally. If there is a way to track international shipments, the cost is generally much in excess if what the buyer is willing to pay. This is why I don't like to do it. the end.

My local Post Office told me that anything that gets shipped outside the USA gets handled by FedEx

They also told me a horror story about a postal strike in italy a few years ago, when the strike ended rather than deliver the huge backload of mail, the Italian post office burned it all :blackeye:
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

I suffers from same thing but the thinking sellers always assume the the risk is absolutely wrong idea.
as always the buyer I purchased the e bay ıtems from europe, japanese and usa . one of them who defrauded me was from usa. sadly ı couldnt do anything and still touches me too bad.
there is inaccuracy explanation in this thread .If the the seller proves that shipped item received by buyer and item is in a condition as described ,buyer sucks and ıf the seller got his/her item insured against lost and damage he/she can get the money from insurance company.

Ive noticed over the last 5 years or so US sellers no longer offering international shipping, the seller does not have to give a reason why not ,thats the terms of the sale end of, but some sellers may have had issues to deal with ,i.e, the item was shipped out the US the buyer saying on delivery its not in the condition stated. You need to build a good trust with a seller who has sold to you and things have been good, i have a good friend in NY and FL who have bidded and won on my behalf gear that will not be shipped out of the US and the gear has gone to them and shipped to me.Without contacts you are grounded.

International shipping with full coverage that paypal will accept and that the post office will payout is expensive. Cheaper options like Priority are not actually tracked once they leave the States and are only insured to a certain amount.

International customers frequently ask for low values declared to avoid customs but if something goes wrong file for a full claim through paypal. Which is garbage but happens all the time.
When selling and printing shipping labels through eBay, there is a 3rd party insurance you can purchase for up to, I believe, $1000. It's pretty cheap too. I shipped an Omnichord to Ireland, it arrived damaged, I filed the claim, and had a full refund in my Paypal account within 24 hours. Pretty impressive.

As far as buyers who ask to have the item's value claimed as less than the purchase price, I just let them know that if they want to go outside of eBay and Paypal and pay with bank transfer then I'm willing. That way, they assume all of the liability.

When shipping internationally through USPS, as soon as it gets out of the US, it is then taken over by EMS, who does the actual overseas delivery. I've shipped at close to 100 items out of the country this way and only had 2 packages go missing. They were both guitar pedals, and they were both going to the UK. One finally arrived back at my house about 8 months later.

The main issue is customs (Germany is the WORST when it comes to this). It's like a lottery, once you go right through, another time they sit on the damn thing for WEEKS. I got burned on this several times already, ebay item ships, sits in customs for 6 damn weeks, buyer bitches, I send replacement kit, original kit arrives, I'm out 1 extra kit. My recommendation is NOT to ship priority international to Europe (the only region that has consistent problems), use first class. Priority mail is handled by third parties a lot of the time in the destination country instead of their local mail system (DHL does it for Germany) and that is usually source of the issue. First class seems to go right through (albeit it takes a bit longer)

DHL, which offers international shipping with tracking.... so you can watch your keyboard stand sit on a dock in Obertshausen for three weeks.

well as a seller of electronics...
and as a contractor for the dod. (for real)
for me to export electronics …. well....
they take a dim view on that!!
usa customs will flag any thing going out... (watch list)
tear it down...
and they may not get it back together right!!
or even try!!
if I am lucky they will return it!!

then there is the 419 thing...
totally different from a cali 420!! LOL!!
the 419 Is stolen cards, bad checks, etc. etc.

I do have a small import biz...
and have good luck getting items into the usa!!

it is all about the usa tech and 3rd world...
it all goes back to the first sand box war..
how did they get around usa aircraft tracking???
a simple radar detector!!
escort brand usa made!
simple low tech high tech!!

now days it is all about cyber stuff..
so software and firm ware is different here in the usa...

I just saw this and had to post!!
lol I do not ship to Alaska or Hawaii!!
lower 48 only!!
yea tracking has a small part of it...
the rest is the trashing of the items!! or lost!!

what do you get when fedex buys ups???
what do you call it??
The fedups!!
lol!!
that came out of the ups strike back in the 1990's!!

now if an over seas buyer has family here in the usa..
it is super easy to have family ship the items over seas!!
that is my solution!!
