Alesis Midiverb passes signal but all static w/ any wet mix

Post by prince_casual » Tue Sep 02, 2014 5:14 pm

I bought an original Midiverb on eBay a few days ago. Arrives and plug my mc202 in... sounds good for 10 seconds then a "pop!" and only explosive static coming through monitors. After fiddling with it, opening it up and de-oxiting, I contact eBay seller, and am promptly refunded full amount. "Okay."

So, now I have a ~free~ midiverb that doesn't work. Symptoms are:
1) Passes signal fine with full dry mix
2) Increasing static with more wet
3) Hitting "defeat" with mix up gives a high pitched squeal
4) Changing the verb type gives pauses to the static, then the static is treated by the different reverbs as it rolls into full white noise. It seems like the static is pre-reverb, since it sounds a little bit different on each mode, at least at first.

Any ideas on fixes I can do, or someone I might send it to to get fixed?
