Casio Previa PX 130 USB to Midi Connection

Post by Daniele Spadavecchia » Thu Feb 12, 2015 2:29 am

On my Casio Previa PX 130 Digital Piano I have only one USB out (just like the one on the back of a normal printer).
I can easily connect it to my iMac and play any virtual instrument, but since there are no MIDI 5 pin connectors on the keyboard, I don't know how I could connect it to a standard midi synth and use it as a controller.

I saw there are MIDI to USB cable to connect old keyboards to computers, but I don't know if I could use them in the opposite direction.

What is the solution? Have you tried anything similar?

By the way, although Casio created a great cheap digital piano, didn't specify how to do this on manual, web.

Basically you can't use it to control other things without a computer between them.

So basically I can't, since I am looking not to have any computers on stage. This way I can only use it as a stand alone keyboard for piano, ep, and organ or strings. No sequencing either. I love the action on that keyboard, but I guess I will need something a little more versatile for organs, ep, and clavinets. Any suggestions?

This little box will do what you want - it acts as a USB-DIN MIDI converter:

It's a bit pricey for what it is but Kenton make quality gear.

What it is is a computer, so not that pricey really. You could get a raspberry pi to do the same thing too I reckon if you wanted to do it cheaply.

Yes, if it works that is what I was looking for.
So far, I only see online shops from England and Germany carrying it, I will check better.
Thanks for the help!
