Attaching aftertouch strip - what kind of double-sided tape?

Post by DesolationBlvd » Fri Mar 06, 2015 4:54 pm

I finally sourced an aftertouch strip for my Alpha Juno. It wasn't the original Roland one, but I plugged it in and squeezed it, and it responded just the same.

It says I need double-sided tape to attach it. What kind of double-sided tape do I use?

Scotch/3M double sided tape should do fine ;)

I used to do picture framing professionally. Whatever products you end up using, they are usually pressure-sensitive so press 'em down hard as you can. Give the 3m products a look and be sure to test anything before putting it to use.

I trust my sticky needs to Therm O Web Peel N Stick. Designed for scrap-booking, it does not need heat nor iron, and it grabs and holds onto virtually anything. In USA I think I got mine at a crafts store like Michaels.

I do not recommend Scotch double-sided tape, it only holds up light duty applications using paper to paper.

It seems that they have a bunch of different products:

It says their SuperTape is the strongest, so I should use that?

I'm not sure its double sided. The Mounting Adhesive Tape looks more useful to your application. The more pressure you put down, the more permanent the bond. Similar to the Peel-N-Stick sheets I've been using. Be sure to test any product first.

I looked at the SuperTape again, and it's also double-sided.

The site says the SuperTape is meant for holding heavier things...

Necromancing this thread... where did you get an aftertouch-strip replacement for the AJ2?
