I'm not sure what you're asking--is this a DAW question? A songwriting question? A sound design question? A mixing question?
"Sure that's fine in practice, but what about in theory?"

its a DAW question. is there a way i can organise and edit how the music is laid out rather than having to play each track from start to finish?

What DAW are you using? Do you know how to quantise? Have you tried using the mouse to click in the notes on the grid? Do you know how to copy and paste?

Weird, that's the first time you mentioned OPX Pro- which is a plugin that runs IN a DAW. Am I allowed to LOL?

Please, we are synthesists here. It is preferred that you chuckle quietly to yourself, then blame line interference if you get any funny looks.
