Yamaha DX100 Newer compatible keyboards

Postby iriscat » Mon Nov 02, 2015 8:43 pm

My partner and I use a Yamaha DX100 as we perform. It is old and is starting to show signs of age and wear.
It is nearly impossible to find a replacement DX100. They seem to be rare and expensive.

Does anyone know of a newer, perhaps Yamaha keyboard, that would be compatible with the DX100, where all of our patches would remain the same. One that might be easier to obtain and cheaper than the DX100.

Thank you for any help your can offer.

All of the 4-operator Yamaha FM synths can load DX100 patches. Even the most recent of these are over 20 years old now.

Keyboards
DX21, DX27, DX11
B200
YS200
V50

Modules
TX81Z
TQ5

DX9 and FB01 are not compatible, nor are 6-operator FM synths (DX7, SY77, SY99, etc.)
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Why not use a midi control keyboard and stop using the DX-100 other as a sound module?
Then it will last. No mechanical wearing just data flow except for turning the unit on off

Else you can use those kbd in earlier post
