(Solved) MIDI to USB cables

(Solved) MIDI to USB cables

So I bought one of these things on ebay:

& I found out that these things don't have the standard midi circuiting

So apparently the only solution online is to solder & do all that stuff yourself but I really can't be stuffed doing that (plus I don't have a soldering kit) So I'm wondering, does anyone know where I can find a midi to usb cable with the correct circuiting?

The missing piece is an opto-isolator. It's to prevent ground loops.

It's pretty amazing how much electronic junk that doesn't work properly gets sold on eBay.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

I saw these and was curious about them!

The only MIDI controller I currently have only puts out USB signal, and I need a controller for the Chip Maestro for Nintendo NES. This was a helpful post and kept me from buying something that wouldn't have even been useful. Thank you! :)

I bought 6 of these off eBay and all were faulty, I returned them and got a refund. There is something strange going on with these items. They seem quite good when they arrrived, great promise but when connected either they did nothing or my computer complained "not a recognised USB device".

I suspect for some stupid reason, (ok money) someone in China went to the great expense of making these, they would have cost something to make, only to fill them with "landfill" - sadly making the whole item landfill.

I view them as: China -> UK -> Landfill

I use the ESI Midimate II, for instance for playing softsynths with a MIDI keyboard, or for uploading sysex data into my Yamaha DX synths. Never had any problems so far.
