Proteus-3 power supply

Post by cornutt » Sun Dec 27, 2015 5:12 am

Anyone know what voltages should come out of the power supply on a Proteus-3? Thanks.
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!

Hi,
I cant be of much help since I have not seen a proteus PSU, but the e4 series of samplers use a switching mode PSU that deliver +12V,-12V, +5V, -5V.
If I remember correct the-5V goes to the DAC .
I hope this might help a bit.
It is all about sharing...

My Proteus FX uses a 9VAC 1amp external psu, if that can be helpful.
Considering parting away from:
-Roland TR707
-DSI Mopho

Why yes, yes I do! Helping out someone else isn't bad for a first post, now, is it?

The Proteus 1/2/3 use the same power (and are the same other than ROM -- that Proteus 3 is pretty rare). I don't think the XR models are any different, other than the expanded memory.

The power is on a 6-pin connector. Here are the voltages:
1 +12V
2,3 +5V
4,5 COM (Ground)
6 -12V

The original power supply may be a Skynet SNP-9031. You can still find them, if you look.
This purports to be original:
ZV311 at EPR Electronics

These may be compatible, and less expensive:
Mean Well PT-45B at Jameco
Artesyn LPT62 at Mouser

The power supply is the weak point of these units. From info on the net, recapping helps. In my case, I think the regulators may be the trouble. When my Proteus fails to boot, I only get a couple volts on the 12V rails. When it does, I get 13.5 or so. Other have trouble with sag.
