1. over 40 years old
2. below 40 years old.

In the past we've just made a SoundCloud account for the competition, and gave the participants the password so they can submit their song, then posted the embedded links in the competition post.

Sometimes we don't get enough participants to separate them into categories

my hosting solution would be this:

sending to e-mail adress which I provide and then I put the shipments online. THe webpage would be plain simple directory with HTTP access for download.

HOwever I cant provide statistics or other things.

or, just use soundcloud and make a poll here... no need to overcomplicate it.

Exactly: name the account "one synth comp 2017," then when people are ready to submit their songs, they send you an email, and once the deadline hits, they get the pasword. After a few days, voting is closed and someone wins!

OR

We do that thing they do in sports where they start off with a lot of competitors, end end up with two teams that made it to the playoffs going head to head, after multiple rounds of all the teams playing off against each other. Kind of like the super bowl, but with one Synth songs

You may want to think about restrictions. Because one synth is really like having one oscillator and not much more, while another synth is a complete beast with multiple operators/oscillators and an effects section.

I have a feeling that may get sorted out in the voting. For instance, one person might think to themselves "it's impressive how they managed to get such good percussive sounds out of such a simple synth" and thus vote for that track (assuming were stating what synth we used). I'm wondering about how editing in a DAW is going to work. Are we allowed external effects? And to what extent? I think most of us are pretty honest and know where to draw the line, though having a set of rules/regulations will make things clearer

Just go back and look at what we did in the other thread, and make the new competition identical to that one

well, I can organize it as anonymous upload too if preferred. Technical things are no issue.

Perhaps a mod can make this one a sticky in the general section?

Hopefully more than the three of us join. +1 on a sticky.

Would this count as a "song":

It's a 1978 Mini Moog with ARP Sequencer.
