Re: One synth songs

In the earlier one-synth compo there was (iirc) a set of rules like: 2x the same synth (or 2x instances of the same plug-in) with an additional drumcomputer. Perhaps there was an effects unit allowed, dunno anymore. I used FM8, which has built-in effects. What was allowed was to use the multiple timbres of a patch. So, with e.g. a JV1080 you could use 4 different sounds (using key-zones, naturally), and with a 6-op FM synth you could use zones for all 6 carriers in a similar way, regardless of the algorithm. All that times two, for each instance/track.

The parameters for the last comp were basically this:
No drum machines - all drums had to be programmed on the Synth as best it could.

Unlimited overdubs or instances of a hardware Synth, but only 2 effect types. You could use reverb and delay, but or distortion and reverb, but not all 3.
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...
