Identifying how to produce this sound...

Post by Hgboi28 » Sun May 12, 2019 10:18 pm

Hi there, I've heard this glittering sound introducing some tracks from the 80s. I'd describe it as a rapid 'glittery' sound normally with a low growling filter layered beneath.

One example is, Billy Ocean - Showdown (on youtube)

So... any idea on how this is produced? I have some synths (dx7, polysix, ppg wave, obxa) and have had a play about without much luck

Thanks in advance

Attach a link to that youtube clip and the time at whcih the sound first appears.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Standard synth sound with a fairly open filter, up-down arpeggiator set to 16ths or faster, reverb (or delay to taste), hold a nice major chord...
