An evolver demo a bit different to the others, it's a sea shanty......

Evo doing wind noise - stereo filtered, FM bells, HP bubbles, evolving arp and pirate's flute.

http://media.putfile.com/Sea-Shanty-21

Hopefully shows a side of this synth you've not heard elsewhere. It really is a stunningly flexible piece of kit.

The E-mu XL7: Can deafen dogs at 100 yards.

Don't worry, I know it sounds awful, not even in a good way, but it's just showing some of it's noisy capabilities I'm slowly discovering.

There's also some short snippets of CS-15 twiddlings afterwards.

If you're keen on the sounds of fizzling old electronics; here's a quick demo of what came out of my 4600 when I first plugged it in. This was before I knew that turning it on could well blow it to pieces.

List updated. Sorry, I haven't gotten everyone's submission, but at least the bad links are gone.

Also, it easier for me to add clips to the list if you just put the whole url and not a link.

Thanks all!!

I've never actually played a Memorymoog, so I couldn't tell, but I have to disagree about the Prophet 5 comment. At least compared to any CEM Prophets, the Sunsyn is a lot "cleaner" and "refined". Then again, two of my friends claim to hear something "Prophety" in the Sunsyn, so maybe I'm just deaf. Nevertheless, I'll take your comment as a compliment :)

..The sample from Sonicstate sort of made me buy the Sunsyn.
hi Carey, thnks for the effort. theres never enough demos of this rare beast. for starters, having a ssm p5 here, and several cem machines including borrowing a friend's cem p5 here n there, that SunSyn really doesnt struck me as prophetish one bit. fwiw.

however the sound of filter and general character, esp in brass keys and pad examples, reminded me of another board straight away... the MKS-80 Rev5. the filter, at least in configuration u used it on these examples, sounds very much like IR3R05 to me (used in MKS80rev5, MKS-70, JX8P and JX-10). compared to Roland IR vcos, sunsyn oscillators sound cleaner, livelier but roland-ish. i can hear the "modern analog" extended bandwith (imo this is also noticeable in m5, p8 and omega to name a few). no saturation.

as limited conclusions from mp3s are, from all sun demos ive heard , seems percusive, electronica and fx material is awesome, i.e. focused punchy stuff etc.. but it wouldn't be my 1st choice for sweeter/warmer side of things. i feel omega could do that better, or much better, an older discrete oberheim. grain of salt is required, as im babbling bout omega/sunsyn ive yet to try first hand.

Here's my Jupiter-4 demo: http://www.savefile.com/files/1379025

00:00-00:12: Me doing a funky bassline on Manual mode
00:15-00:33: Patch 1 - Arpeggiated strings with me controlling the filter cutoff using the pitch bender
00:35-00:51: Patch 2 - Me doing a slightly crappy rendition of Spandau Ballet's "Confused"

00:54-01:12: Patch 3 - Arpeggiated bell with some portamento in the middle
01:13-01:50: Patch 4 - Proof that the Jupiter-4 has the best LFO of any analog synth

01:51-02:11: Patch 5 - Strings from Icehouse's "Great Southern Land", almost down pat

02:13-02:21: Patch 6 - A snappy and gritty bassline
02:24-02:54: Patch 7 - The obligatory 303 impression
02:56-03:07: Patch 8 - Dark bassline
Had: DX7, AX-60, SR-16, Yamaha TQ5, 01/WFD, Juno-106, MG-1, JX-03
Want: OB-6, Prophet 6, Jupiter-6
