Sands Of Time, a Fairlight song

Nothing very special, but here is a little track I made from only Fairlight samples. Ok, so it's samples from the samples of a sampler.. But it still sounds nice, don't you think? I put it together in Orion, with reverb on some instruments and a bit of EQ.

The Fairlight is far from just being a sampler. It's a digital synth first and foremost. ;)

Very nice. That so 80s sounding (which, btw, I miss dearly.) Where'd you get the samples?

Thanks

Thank you guys :D

Actually, I found these samples in a big soundfont which I extracted to individual soundfonts, so they all have perfect loop points. But you can find the entire IIx soundlibrary (wav) in the software synthesizers thread, in "fairlight samples needed" topic. Gcoudert has postet the entire library. However many of the sounds have a strange kind of looping in it, and i.e. ARR1 sounds very strange. The ones I have are sampled very well in comparison, but there are not as many.

Nice! Very well mixed. I really like the first arpeggio type section.

Sounds better than a lot of library music that was done on the IIx, back in the day.

I wonder if you changed the drum sounds would it bring it up to date?

Thank you!

No doubt that modern drums would freshen it up, but I wanted to make a track using only IIx samples, to see what I could do with them.

Good job! I like the bit where Arr1 comes in.

Great song! Could fit quite well as part of a movie soundtrack.. or just as a stand-alone song. That deep bass is great. It does have a vintage vibe, but not in an outdated bad sense.
