Luna
Well, it's been a little while since I was in the studio actually making music...getting Shadow out took a lot of time and effort even after all the recording was done.
I was able to steal a few hours from Time himself the last couple of days and create a little tune called Luna: http://www.carbon111.com/music/luna.mp3
The Nord Stage is on "distorted lead", Nord Wave on "grungy Santur" and Oasys on drums and "ambiance". The vox is all me and, hopefully, I'm not too rusty.
I'm heels over head for you
My days are wine and bread for you
I've turned my end-beginning round again
Cycle circle Dervish you
What will you do with what has you?
The message you are sending sounds again
All I can see is the stars in your eyes
All I can see is the moon
A Winter road for Summer souls
And every seed a part, a whole
I've turned my end-beginning round again
Plants lie waiting under snow
All the seeds prepare to grow
The message you are sending sounds again
All I can see is the stars in your eyes
All I can see is the moon
Spiral fox my forest you
The secret secret no one knew
From here the light is shining once again
Red and white your color true
Blue and black and bruised like you
From here the colors blending found again
All I can see is the stars in your eyes
All I can see is the moon...

Re: Luna
A listener pointed out an issue with this song regarding dynamics, or the lack thereof...I've lowered the lead's level in the verse quite a bit and I'm liking it better now plus the vocals are much more intelligable. Uploading the new version as I type.

Re: Luna
Based on listener comments, I've added a little more diversity between chorus and verse as well as raising the lead vocal track's level:

...and based on more feedback, brought the vocal up further (I'm too shy, I guess
) as well as raised the kick drum a tad and widened the song's overall stereo image.
I need to walk away from this one now.

James, I really like this, I had no idea you could sing as well. You have a very nice voice and I like when you harmonized. Lryics are fantastic and you have a great melody going on.
I listened on headphones and I think the corrections you made were good ones, since I did listen on headphones I felt the distorted lead on the left side was a bit too loud at times but other than that I think this is great!

Re: Luna
Hi James,
Sorry for bringing up an old topic, I have been browsing the listening lounge and just stumbled across it.
I think it is excellent, great vocals and the chorus melody is beautiful. The Oasys drums are really something special.
I know you have moved on, but can I possibly add some constructive feedback? The drum intro surprised me as it is very right panned, with nothin much coming out the left earphone. I know it only lasts 3 seconds, but first impressions are important!
Only other thing I wanted to say is: The grungy santur level could be reduced during the chorus. But that's probably just my personal taste (to be honest I don't really like the sound too much).
It's an excellent track mate.

Re: Luna
Yeah, I don't remember hearing vocals in anything in the past... your vocals are good enough that you should use them more often.

Re: Luna
Thanks for the further comments, guys!
All the criticism is welcome and will be helpful when I do the final mix for the upcoming album.
Sorry I haven't been around much. I've unsubbed from all my mailing lists and most online forums but will still check in periodically on VSE and KSS. The next album and my family are taking all my time right now.
Thanks again!

Re: Luna
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.
Things are moving along nicely for the new CD. I've got a few titles for the album rattling around in my head but "Screaming at the Sun" is the standout so far.
