"computer generated sound.Fail ! Try VSL next time if you want something a little acceptable for my ears. "

WTF with those comments.

At least I enjoy your fetish with FM8. Love them all

Obviously I admire you a lot for your heterogeneous musician skills. You could get any possible sound from FM synthesis. I' ve listen several ones and will track your new videos....

It's not just a fetish (though the challenge factor is an important aspect of course), but I honestly believe that FM8 is one of the very few synths which is actually good. Time and time again I try others (including the big ones that have all the legendary names 'n blahblah), I usually uninstall them the same day again. They're far too limited in their sound palette, have a confusing/bloated interface or eat up 8% CPU time per single voice on my system. That Space Opera has hundreds of voices at peaks. And ok, my CPU stutters a bit where the whole gang contributes to those orchestra hits at the last part, but the amount of things happening there is insane anyway, especially compared to other softsynths.

My goal is actually to, one day, have all -or at least most- orchestral instruments and other instruments covered in FM8. Partly as a challenge, but also partly because they may end up being more fun, more controllable and better sounding than samples.

And what about advantages like 'load project, wait 5 seconds, and there it is', instead of 'load project and wait 5 minutes for all the pre-load snippets of your giga libs'.

I couldn't agree more with you on the softsynth situation.. The market is cluttered with s**t.

You are maybe more into FM but have you tried Sonicprojects OP-X? That is one sweet sounding synth, and one of the best commercial ones IMO.

Happy birthday btw! ;)

Wow. They're all great tracks. A few of my favourites:
Claire de Lune: just beautiful.
Enola Gay: pure nostalgia for me!
Girl from Ipanema: oh my f*ck, thank you for that! Just what I needed to cheer me up.
Fire Dance: brilliant!

Did you not do the Bladerunner theme at one point? I canna find it. :(
Your programming is remarkable and your orchestrations are spot on. Well done! :hi:

That Blade Runner used to be a somewhat random sketch only, here. I've made another one which hasn't been finished yet. The story-scroll sound effects are missing (kinda like the ones in my Hymne FM8 remix), and I need to tweak my explosions a bit (I based my new version on what you hear in the movie).

Not something for the upcoming month though, my study will take all my time for now. Within my schedule, this Fire Dance was more or less a moment of weakness.. :P After that I'll first make a video for my Airwolf FM8 remix (over 10 minutes, including the eagle/cello, Moffet's theme, Gabriella's theme and the more symphonic version of the typical action cues), then I'll see what's next!

Oxygene 4, because it was lost in the summer forum crash.

And finally, after months I decided to record the screen this weekend and edit it into a video! Everyone who was a kid in the 80's should know this one..

There seems to be a strange lo-fi blanket on the last one (compare it to the Fire Dance to see my point), dunno why. Maybe it gets better later..

Am I seeing it correctly that in the Airwolf theme (around 7:13) you're triggering several FM8 instances not exactly at the same time to emulate a string ensemble?

Because if so, wow. Just wow.

They actually are on a row in the tracker. Then I record the tracker output in cubase, then I apply 'random position' to each track. Simple as that.
