Drum n bass: and the bass is heavy!

Post by filtersweeperVCO » Mon Jun 29, 2009 6:05 pm

So finally I'm back after a hiatus from the lab. We had renovations going on to remove knob/tube wiring, and my studio had to be ripped apart! Anyways, just got it back together on the weekend and came up with this!

still WIP, though so yeah! Please feedback.

I liked it, I must say however I kept thinking a hi-pass filter was going to be turned off.

Hey,

Just had a listen to your track, very cool! Would probably benefit from some high end sizzle from some pro mastering but that can be done later. What did you use for the bass at 41sec in? What about the main drum loop? They were very good :D

Thanks for having a listen! It would deffinitely benifit from having a good mastering by someone who knows what they're doing. The bass at 41 seconds is actually a preset on the voyager "significant sonics" run through the sherman filterbank 2, with both the outs being used. This gives the sound a bit of stereo panning properties. As for the drums, they are all classic breaks from 70's funk tunes. There's the amen highpassed underneath everything, then theres a swung highhat break that I've slightly rearranged, and a straight 1/8th note hat pattern, and then of course a kick/snare ....kick kick snare pattern that I sequenced over top to finish the groove. That is it. Sub bass by waldorf pulse plus.
respect.
