"Delhi Djinn" - Dub Techno for dancefloors and couches alike

Post by TrondC » Wed Dec 08, 2010 9:44 pm

ok this one was a blast to make
yet again, frustrated by failure to come up with something new with monomachine, I found an older pattern, re-mangled it and started adding drum parts.. somehow I'm back in love with the MnM

again, the fx machines are everything to me, here I use track 5 for reverb and 6 for chorus. individual delay settings on each fx machine livens things up a LOT, and on the chorus machine I have turned the resonance to about 60-70 or so, and a very slow LFO on filter width makes for a weird effect, almost sounds like a slow pitch shifter on the chords. trippy

live take. MD+MnM, one pattern each.

THIS is going to the liveset for sure.. just need to work on the arrangement a bit

I like the deep bas and punchy drums. Also the very wet atmospheric pad sounds, And the strange melodies during the climax. Though I don't like the harsh clipping sound they take on at about 2:48.

All in very cool, i love the spooky vibe it takes on, especially near the end.

Nice! I've seen you develop your own sound over the last few years.

I think I've actually mentioned this to you before, but I urge you to consider multitracking the parts and doing a proper mix (or letting someone mix them for you). I promise, it would take your stuff to the next level....

Definitely a big improvement over the previous incarnation of this song,

I like it alot! I would like to hear a version with the drums halved to give it a more chilled out feeling.. but thats cos I'm lying on my couch half asleep right now ^_^

thanx for the listen :)

I might just multitrack this one after all (like I did on the "ambient techno" series), but doing that kills my flow and the "moment" which is when it happens for me. Also the planning part turns me off, for example deciding on a rigid structure so I know where the drums drop out/in, when to do certain changes etc.. I really don't like doing that

..but for the sake of making better tracks, I might just work on that..

;)
