Re: New track up on soundcloud
quite possibly. Which do you refer to? The glitched part that comes in halfway through? I was trying to place it in the mix as a "lead" part, although it's not particularly melodic so maybe it doesn't make sense.

nice driving feel, I can see this put over top a knight-rider type 80's car chase video or some sort of parkour/free-running scene in a movie (if that makes sense...)

Re: New track up on soundcloud
dude, this is PUMPING!!
I love the first bleeps and beaaaooooow noises
but i agree, when they start going all over the place they can feel a touch loud, It feels like they are building up to become a melody but they never quite make it.
but that bassline, mmmmmmmmmmmm, the beats, mmmmmmmmmmmmm

Re: New track up on soundcloud
very nice track! love that bass line sound.
i do like the noise, and i don't think it's to loud. maybe to have the best of both world you could keep that whole line, use as a sample and run a sequence to control its pitch? you'll still have noise but with more time and something that might be interpreted as a lead. ( does that male any sense?

Re: New track up on soundcloud

Thanks for the feedback everyone!!!
my next step after I finish 1 more track is to evolve all my songs into a live set. At that point I'll try to mix in another lead and use the riser more as just a riser during the breaks.

A big part of the bass sound is that it's got a high-passed reverb before the compression and I'm automating the wet/dry during builds. This adds a lot of the character.

Re: New track up on soundcloud
That high passed reverb thing that kicks in with the bassline, is annoying. I think the track would be much better if you got rid of that and processed the bass to have a bit of bite or distortion to it for that anyway. Just bus out the midrange and saturate it.
My other problem with this would be lack of progression, i don't think it quite has enough call and response factor. it's all based around one theme, which is fine. plenty of much longer tracks are all based around the same loop, but it doesn't have enough breakdowns and tension/release sections to keep me In the mood. if i was on a dancefloor i'd be getting a bit tired of the repetition.
EDIT: because i sounded like a douche

Re: New track up on soundcloud
NO. I want to hear this.. how else does one become better. Thank you. I agree with the lack of progression. I have a lot of tracks like this (builds up one theme). My plan on a live set is to mix each one quicker, but I don't think that'll do it.. still not the calculated call & response that makes a crowd go crazy. I think I nail the formula a bit better on my next track (stills needs final mix & master)... I will bug you to tell me what you think.tekkentool wrote: EDIT: because i sounded like a douche

Re: New track up on soundcloud
Maybe try working on something with the dedicated progression style? like the two-theme hook/verse electro. Like wolfgang gartners illmerica or deadmau5's Ghosts n Stuff?
