Novation K-Station demo

In my opinion, and having tried them all, this is the best of the budget mini-VA synths out there. It may be arguable which sounds better between the K-Station, Microkorg and Miniak/Micron, but it's no contest which has the superior UI. Your synth is no good if you're not inspired to play on it, and this is where the K-Station is masterful.

Here's a play:

As a fellow K station owner, I agree the interface makes this synth so instantly useable and always gratifying. It's pretty much my go-to synth for coming up with ideas and new sounds when I am coming up with ideas for new songs.

More often than not, I come up with a patch on the K, and build around it with my other gear.

I quite enjoyed those tracks. Are they both all K station multi-tracked?

Aye, it`s very quick and easy to evolve the same patch from a square bass to a huge dreamy pad. The only other synth from all the ones I`ve used which could match that evolving speed was another Novation: the Supernova.

Thanks. It`s 100% K-Station, going straight into the audio recorder. No multi-tracking, just my two hands playing the thing live. The first bit from the "sang still sear" track sounds like it could be multi-tracking. The way I did that was to hold down a chord using the hold function, then assign the mod-wheel to lfo-pitch. The synth is thus played with the left hand on the mod wheel playing the different notes and the right hand sweeping the filter. The 2 or 3 keys being held down by the "hold" function are constantly playing the main drone, a feature of most of my audio demos (CD`s or cellotape also do the trick for synths that lack a "hold" function).

Fancy sharing some of your own K-Station demos? I`d like to hear what others are doing with this synth :music:

You can hear examples of the K-station on all of my tracks. Click the link to my soundcloud account in my signature.

Feel free to ask what's what. I often use it for bass and pads or sweepy bleepy things.
