Hey,

I'm going to risk posting one of my tracks here, cause I'd really like to know what other analog synth lovers think about it ^^

Here are the synths/machines I used to record it:
- Sequential Circuits SixTrak + Ibanez UE-405 Multi-effect (Chords/Arpeggios, a touch of Filter X-MOD, and Chorus/Delay).
- Anaglik-01, my DIY synth (Bass, overdriving the SSM2044 filter input).
- Yamaha RX5 (Drums).
- Roland JX-3P (Middle part theme).
- Korg Mono/Poly (Last part lead synth, with Filter FM from the hidden MG1 waveform switch position).

Hehe, being a huge fan of chiptunes and retro video game music, I take it as a compliment ^^

Hey, here's a new one, with nothing less than a model D as a guest star :D

Synths:
- '79 Minimoog: Bass (with the feedback loop).
- SCI Six-trak + Ibanez UE-405 : Pads and Arpeggios (chorus/eq on pads, delay on arps).
- Korg Mono/Poly: Lead.
- Yamaha RX5: LinnDrum samples with RX5USB (see https://github.com/gligli/rx5usb ).

Hello,

It's been a while since I posted a new track, here's one:

It's about a dystopian future as seen from the 80's, something like that...

Synths:
- Modified Korg Mono/Poly: Bass.
- Yamaha RX5 using my rx5usb: Drums.
- SCI Prophet 600 using my p600fw plus Ibanez UE-405 rack: All other synth sounds.

Hope you enjoy it :)

Nice track, great bass sounds and the P600 is so lush!

Hehe, I used many layers of the P600 sounds, plus analog chorus. One take of them did sound good, just not wide enough :)

The bass is just one dry take of my Mono/Poly tho!
When I compared my upgraded P600 to my Mono/Poly, I thought: either I sell it, or I try to make it better.
So I chose to change all the opamps for TL082, capacitors (using lower value tantalum for envelopes), and added a pre-filter gain and treble boost (using resistors and a cap).
The sound is now ridiculously better, the filter starts to overdrive nicely past 1 osc at half level, I have lots of treble, even past 20Khz, and while I can't do 20 seconds envelopes anymore, they are way more percussive!

I'm coming late to this party. Sorry.

Did you do these mods to the P600 or to the Mono/Poly? If the mods were to the Mono/Poly, I'd be interested in seeing a few details...especially about how you implemented the pre-filter gain. I've done a few mods to my Mono/Poly, as well...

Treble Boost: http://synthhacker.blogspot.com/2013/03 ... e-mod.html

Sample-and-Hold: http://synthhacker.blogspot.com/2012/12 ... opoly.html

Got any info on your mods that you can share?

Hehe, well I got the idea of Mono/Poly pre filter changes from your blog :)

So, basically:

- I changed all the 4558 opamps for TL082, because even if 4558 has a nice vintage sound, it's awfully slow and not dynamic. The VCOs summing amplifier (1/2 IC18 on KLM-354) would be the most important to change, I think it's responsible for the so called useless VCO mixer on the MP4!
- I changed R1 on KLM-355 for a lower value (I tried may values, 10k seemed like the best compromise between sound fatness and mixer usability).
- I added your treble boost, I had to choose different values to accomodate for R1.
- I changed C23 and C25 on KLM-355 for 2.2uf Tantalums, so envelopes are both faster and snappier (due to tantalums low esr).

A few demos I made after these changes : http://sfx.gligli.free.fr/zik/mp4_recap_reopamp_mods/

PS: by the way, I made 2 new tracks, they are on my soundcloud, if anyone cares :)
