Bedroom Cassette Masters 1980-89 Volume One

Post by Carrillion » Wed Jan 02, 2013 3:10 pm

Just last week I completed a project I've been curating most of 2012. Essentially it is vintage electronica recorded and produced in bedrooms around the world between 1980-89. Twenty-nine artists are represented, most of whom I tracked down on the Web. Roland Juno 6's abound with plenty of Portastudio tape hiss...

Free download at bandcamp includes a 60 page fully illustrated PDF on the artists & gear (read it on issuu here: http://issuu.com/carrillion/docs/bedroo ... volume_one).

So for all you analogue fiends:

...and obviously, there's a Facebook page to 'like'.

I am really enjoying this! Thanks very much for posting and of course for curating.
It was amusing for me as a fellow bedroom synthesist of the 80s(and beyond!) to read the equipment list and see the same bits and pieces that I had in my collection mentioned over and over!

Love the booklet too.
Great idea and well put together-I would love to make a contribution to a future volume.. ;)

This is absolutely great!

Fantastic work here :) this is what I have been after for quite some time now, raw, personal, analogue electronica.

Many thanks indeed!

Awesome!

So much different stuff. Some almost naive (in a good way) little tracks and some which are very impressive. The limitations in hardware and production gives them all this special atmosphere, and as said, it's all very raw and personal. Thanks! :)

Thanks everyone! @sequentialsoftshock : yes, the error has been duly noted and a revised pdf is being produced. I've had to purchase more download credits from bandcamp because of the project's popularity, so please don't delay - it may not be there for free much longer:

Cheers,
Simon

PS: Oh, and PLEASE do get in touch with me in you're interested in contributing to Volume Two!
