Yamaha DX5 Demo

Post by Analogue Crazy » Wed Feb 06, 2013 6:21 pm

Finally got around to making a video of my Yamaha DX5. Not many examples of this rare FM synth, enjoy!

Great patches you've created. Lovely and full sounding. I'm really into FM synthesis these days, and finally getting a grasp at programming it. I've never played or even seen the DX5, but would sure love to. It looks huge.

Thanks for the nice feedback :) If i hadn't had a DX7 before the DX5 id still be scratching my head. One of the best ways to program it is to duplicate patches on each synth channel then program differences in one channel. Or you can program one 6 OP patch at a time and layer them together after.

It is indeed a huge beast, but only 4kg heavier than the DX7 mk1. Takes up a lot of space, but is endless fun if you are into FM like we are
