Andromeda - 16 outputs - randomly panned

Post by b3groover » Mon Mar 18, 2013 5:49 am

What does it sound like when you utilize the 16 individual outputs (one for each voice) on the Alesis Andromeda and then pan them randomly around the stereo field?

Why, it sounds like this!

The above was an experiment just to test if my homemade insert cables functioned properly (they do). Today I worked on a progressive rock piece using some arppeggios and big brassy power chords. I had already tracked the parts just using the AUX outputs but today I re-tracked them with all 16 voice outputs randomly panned and summed to a stereo pair. Holy massive wall of sound, Batman!!! It sounds incredibly HUGE. I almost missed my gig because I was having too much fun with the brassy "Alaska"-esque patch.
