Korg MS-20 Mini / MC 303 - Stab Beat

Post by simesky » Sun Dec 20, 2015 6:26 am

Hi guys,

Here is one more "dance" synth jam recorded directly to tape.

Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Cheers,

Alex

Sounds great, although the arp / lead part with the M.K let it down I think. It clashes with that lovely bass I think, in terms of frequency. If played on a higher pitch, it would have it's own a become clearer, and mix less muddy. Enjoyable stuff though, nice one

Hi Ned,

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions! Now that you mention it, I notice it too. Alternatively, maybe I should have cut some bass frequencies from the pad, and perhaps cut some high frequencies from the MS-20. In such cases (all hardware, one take => tape), the mix is naturally done on the fly, but I should pay more atttention to sculpt the sound, indeed. Thanks again! Alex

sounded good , taken in to count that it was on the fly, I think with a little notching, you can get everything to fit sonically, I did enjoy it, thank you.

Cool, I enjoyed it. Ms20 patch was really great too.

Thanks for the effort, Raycast!

Thank you! Whatever I do, I always seem to type cast the MS-20 in this kind of sound category, it's such a beefy bass synth!
