not expensive audio interface

Hi. My partner and I use these rigs in our studio, and live:

My own:

CASIO MT-70 / ROLAND Micro Cube
KORG EA-1mkII
KORG microKORG
ZOOM MRT3B

These are plugged into a BEHRINGER Xenyx 802 submixer and routed into a Mackie 16 channel mixer and house PA.

My partner's:

KORG EMX-1mkII
KORG Kaoss Pad 2
KORG microX
MACBook and EDIROL 4-octave keyboard controller running Reason 3.0 and MOTU Digital Performer 5.1.1

These are plugged into a MOTU UltraLite FireWire Audio Interface and routed into a Mackie 16 channel mixer and house PA.

So, borrowing a concept from Neil Peart of RUSH: "I am the Analogue Kid and my partner is the Digital Man."

I think the MOTU UltraLite FireWire Audio Interface (at $555.00 U.S.) would be the best option for you, given how well it has worked with our own MACBook and Edirol controller!

I'd say save your money for that MOTU Ultralite, I'm thinking about getting one myself, or saving up for the Traveler.

and a word of advise.... don't buy any sort of Digidesign Mbox... I know there are some people on VSE who say they are worth it, after having mine for 6 months and never liked it from the very beginning.

or if you want to go the firewire route and could save up a bit, the TC electronic 24D ($499) is worth to check. It's got great audio quality and built-in TC class DSP :http://www.tcelectronic.com/Konnekt24D
