Patch Cables

Post by WWBJD » Fri May 25, 2007 9:39 pm

I need some 1/4" differently colored, non-right-angled, 1-2' (or longer!) patching cables for my MS-series.

Any suggestions? Been stumbling around the internet for a couple of days now looking for what I want with zero results!
6, 60, 600 and other assorted things.

I bought loads of short Proel cables from a nearby synth store. They are perfect for the MS synths since they are not too long to clutter up everything, and the plugs are nice and thick and rubber covered. Check around for those, search for Proel. He had them in lots of colours, and they didn't cost much either.

I had to buy 1/8" patch cables for my System 100. I found some on All Electronics website.
All Electronics is good for finding stuff sometimes. Check them out... http://www.allelectronics.com/

Here's an eBay auction with a 10 pack of 1/4" color patch cables. Looks like a decent deal...

I just got these ones for use with the 20: http://cgi.ebay.com/PATCHBAY-CABLES-PAT ... ryZ23783QQ
I'm loving them, but the idiots at custom misread the $13.50 value as $135 and I was charged duty greater than the price of the cables themselves AND shipping

Yeah, Webster Music seems to have the best pricing for patch cables. I'm about to buy some 1/4" TRS to XLR from them. I wish I could find a dealer in Canada though....

I bought cables on ebay when I had an MS-20. Best to get 6-packs of 6", 12", and 18". The short lengths are nice because they don't get in the way of the keyboard.

Hosa makes these in boxes of 8:

Any music store should have these or be able to order them for you - if I recall, they go for around $10-$15 Cdn. for the box.

Be aware, however that they are kind of flimsy - I had a few on them go DOA on me within a month of buying them. If you have to special order, get 2 boxes so you'll have back-ups.

cheers,

Wow - that's expensive. Maybe the prices have gone up on these since I bought them - which was in 2005. I just checked and you can get them on ebay for $20 + shipping, so that probably works out to the same $30 in the long run.

I have no idea what the markup is on those Hosas, but I picked up a pack at GC at the end of 2006 for $5 USD.

Cheers.
