The Prophet-600 would be better than a Jupiter-4 for live use. The JP-4 has a mind of its own and can be very temprimental when it wants to be. I will be gigging mine when i get one though because im crazy!
The P-600 is not as heavy and has 6 voices. It also has 100 memories.

Well, the CS-50 does have a carrying handle...
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

Well a jupiter 4 weighs half as much...JUGEL wrote:@Jack. Jupiter 6 would be tits .. but I doubt I'd get one that cheap. My friend has one and I love it... If I was going for something like that I'd get a OB-8 or OBXa
So ... embarassing question. What would be more gigable.. Yamaha CS50 or Roland Jupiter 4 ??

Even though the Jupiter 4 sounds very unique and amazing to my ears, it's the freaking synth version of HAL9000. Thats a hate\love factor.
I bought a JX3P as a live substitute for the JP4 since it couldn't play more than 3 voices without being awfully out of tune. Using the tuning-pots on the back is useless too since the oscillators just drift out of tune after 5 min.
I'm not saying that it's always out of tune but it kind of lives its own life. I've had it with me on flights during winter time without experiencing tuning problems. I've also had major tuning problems in studios where the temperatur have been stable and the synth have been powered up for a long time. I don't really see a logic in that. It's living its own life. It's not a synth. It's a 14 year old girl.
It's totally one of my favourite synths though. But it's not the best live synth.

Is there any decent samples of the AX60?
not the highest quality.. but samples
i thought there were some here: http://homepage.mac.com/synth_seal/html/index.html down at the bottom. under the 'written by others' section.
I'd send you some from mine- but it's in the shop

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe...Star Wars on Laserdisc
Ive gigged with my former CS-50 one time, and i had no problem with tuning...
Its very heavy but once you have it place you have great control with the aftertouch.

I've got a CS-50. Its really heavy... You'll want someone to help you move it. Besides that, I love it. Those babies (50/60/80) siiiing. The aftertouch is nice for tactile performance, too.
