Post by moogslie » Sat Jul 14, 2007 10:08 pm

Anybody know what keyboards are designed to be sync'ed with a Korg Rhythm 55?

Most Korg used 48ppq where as Roland used 24ppq. You can get converters but I'm not sure why Korg settled on 48ppg.

The KR-55 does not have Korg's 48ppq DIN sync. Instead it has a 1/4" trigger output that you can use to sync to MonoPolys, Polysix arpeggiator, etc. Basically any synth with an arpeggio or seq 1/4" clock input.

Works with a Prophet 600.

Let me guess.. this has something to do with a Juno 60.

Posting two separate, simultaneous threads about this issue is not going to enamour you to the mods. Or to VSEers, actually. Keep it simple and appropriate.

Ain't gonna happen with a Juno! But there is a midi retrofit available.

A company called Garfield Electronics once made a 2 space rack device with ins and outs to sync nearly every type of pre-MIDI clock. I forgot the name, Dr. Click - maybe. I had one that I aquired in the early 90's and sold it about 7-8 years ago since I had no use or it at the time. Roland's SBX-10 offers MIDI IN/Out, Sync 24 IN/Out and 2 "Time Base" outs can can individually transmit 48, 96 or 120 ppq.

Hope this helps.
