New Moog Lead Synth!?
Found this article on sonicstate:
http://www.sonicstate.com/articles/article.cfm?id=5
and saw a glimpse of it in this movie, linked from the moog website. At 3:06 there is a quick glimpse of it.
This looks promising to me, does anyone know anything else? This is the first i'm hearing of it.

The article doesn't have a date on it that I can find... which leads me to believe it is an old article from before when the voyager came out.
Notice how they are calling it Big Briar instead of Moog.

No one cares, no one sympathizes,
so you just stay home and play synthesizers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that synth is Bob's prototype to what eventually became the Voyager. I did not see a date on that article, but I bet it was written in '00 or '01 beforfe the Voyager was produced. You also notice the reference to Big Briar, which was Bob's DBA until get got the rights to use Moog Music back.
In case you didn't know, Bob also had a contest to name the new synth. The winner would receive a synths as the prize.

My favourite part is:
I'd say that's more than a "changing of the guard." More like a second coming, or at least downright creepy...In an obscure way, Bob Moog's return represents a "changing of the guard" within the synthesizer industry.

yeah id have to say its a prototype what the voyager was probably going to look like before they added the touch pad and display screen...or maybe theyre working on a lower priced, non rack mount, voyager...thats would be nicedinotread wrote: and saw a glimpse of it in this movie, linked from the moog website. exactly. thats why i was so excited when i linked it. the article was in the form of a flash animation on the front page, probably some random load. so, i assumed it was new. and i did realize it was just like the mm voyager, but i was being hopeful. I agree, the voyager is a nice synth, but with the many bells and whistles, its out of my price range. i think this prototype would sell nicely because its right between where the voyager and the LP sit. Now i'm just babbling.JSRockit wrote:![]()
I like how it looks like a bunch of MFs stuck together... would have been cool to see this made... the Voyager is a bit over the top IMHO.
and about big briar.. I know, i ordered my ss theramin from them. shot in the dark back then.
*coug, cough, Amos, get this made :p cough cough*
