Yeah, this is part of the motivation for doing it like this.cornutt wrote:Very interesting. The cost of ordering a whole panel has for a long time been the biggest barrier to more players getting into Serge. This makes it a lot easier to get started.

I'm excited about the fact that I can have an extremely portable modular thats only about 8" x 8" with just the Creature by itself

Here's some photos to get a feel for the real thing:
Creature:

Gator:

M-Boat w/ Creature & Gator:

The Creature and Gator were designed to play to each others strengths and cover each other's weaknesses...great little system.
It is my understanding that a nice wooden box with power supply will be available at some point should you want just a single M-odule like the Creature.
"Its a beautiful thing!"

The best place to understand this unique Serge functionality is by reading Rich Gold's Serge Manual:

Its not as confusing as you may think, at least not after you get to know your way around...

Hi Joe,system777 wrote:Hi James, Joe here. Looks quite nice!...Is the green patch cord coming form the power block for grounding? or can you still ground off of the PS2a? Thanks again...
Joe
The grounding is done from the back of the distribution strip, I believe. The patch cord is connected to a jack for modulating the 'sunken dome water-diffused blue LED'. It acts as a power indicator, i.e., it's never completely 'off', but you can feed it any voltage and it will respond in an analogous way. Rex said it's good for illuminating the front panel in low-lighting or casting crazy shadows on the walls.

LOL!
Well, they are kind of candy-colored.
I've got a Touch Keyboard Sequencer in process and will probably add at least one M-boat to this little "candy store":

These M-class modules are one of the most exciting Serge developments in decades!

A couple of notes for further clarity:
The Serge jack colors:
Black = Bipolar (AC-coupled) signals
Blue = Unipolar (DC-coupled) signals
Red = Gate, Pulse or Logic signals
Usually, modules are laid out with inputs on the bottom and outputs on the top (but there are a few exceptions).
Unlike some systems, the Serge can mix and match audio, modulation and CV freely but you still need to keep something in the audio path so there's something to listen to at the end of the signal chain
Sound Transform Systems can be reached at (262) 367-3030 for orders and information.

I always liked the New Timbral Osc. I don't see anything here remotely similar, nor a normal Osc at all. Is there more not seen in the new format. Also, Is this really a new format or just the panel width size cut in half?
