Ion discontinued
Anyone else noticed this? Or am I just late to realise what everyone already knows?
Will the prices on ebay be going up now that they're discontinued?

The site was just recently updated. This is their current line up for synths:
http://www.alesis.com/synths
The Ion seemed to be a love it or hate it type synth. I, for one, am not glad to see it's been dropped.

I guess taking a look at their legacy product list confirms that the lack of the Ion on their current product list is not an accidental oversight.
Stuff I own:

ESQ-1
JX-8P
Poly 800
MaxiKorg 800DV
Elka Rhapsody 610

I wonder if the fact that it's discontinued means that they're going to come out with some sort of replacement? I suppose the Ion just wasn't selling enough to turn a profit and the Micron was. It's still pretty strange, because the two synthesizers are almost identical in terms of what's under the hood.
"All Your Synthesizers Are Belong To Us!" Literally.

Here in scandinavia, sellers usually name any synth over 15 years old a CULT SYNTHESIZER!!!
Like Yamaha DX27 CULT SYNTH !!! or Roland MT32 CULT SYNTH, Rare module, etc. Everything is a cult item

But at least I get a good laugh when browsing through ads

THAT'S AWESOME!
But a really strange use of the word 'cult'
Moog LP + Casio SK1 and MT-75 + tube amp = good tone.

It seems like Alesis is falling out of the keyboard game. Which is too bad; I've always been a fan of their product line (owner of a QS7.1).
A buddy of mine bought the Ion this past fall and I think it's a great synth. I wonder if it's problem might have been that for a few hundred more a person could buy a synth with some mystique in it. Save up another $200-300 and get a Nord. The Ion pushed its price point (either up or down, depending on how you look at it) and so lost a chunk of the market.
