Sample recording with mini disc
I thought that sample recording in the 'field' with a mini disc player would be a handy idea but I've tried it and there is a constant integral hiss and most of the sound is biased to the left speaker. Is this just a result of having a cheaper mini disc player or will this always occur? Many thanks for answers!

I would get a flash device but I've been looking at mobile digital recorders and had given up there due to cost- and I'd assumed a cheaper flash device would have low fidelity and only have mono output (I'm probably totally wrong there). I was thinking the mini would be an inexpensive solution, but my mini disc is just crud, I guess.
I had very good results recording with my minidisc recorder. I would use good self-powered mics. When recording off a mixer, I would use line in. Never had problems with overbearing hiss.
