it is sounding so wide though. what kind of stereo tricks does the mopho have? Can you pan the osc left and right? but it was mostly filter FM right?

The Mopho isn't true stereo like the Evolver where you can pan one oscillator right and the other left. You can only pan "everything" to a particular stero position, like with most other monosynths.

Panning with the help of the stepsequencers or LFOs can however produce some nice stereo effects and occasionally I use audio rate panning modulations that result in a kind of pseudo stereo width.

I can't believe he makes such ugly looking stuff, considering how much effort he puts into designing the synth it's a real shame it's come out looking like it's under developed

it was actually really interesting to hear him talk about it- it partially came about because he didn't want to take the logical step after the P'08 and do a modern Pro One- he wanted to do something different and something small that could be part of a dj setup. i thought it looked nice in person, it doesn't look like a little synth module, it looks like a box of fun.

As for Mopho, seeing that it has a 4X16 sequencer with one voice per sequence, does that mean you can trigger 4 simultaneous voices with an external sequencer too?

Erm, it's one sequence (4*16) per patch. The thing is MOnoPHOnic, so just the one voice, although you can tune the two oscillators separately.

Actually it is 4 sequencers but you use sequencer 2-4 sorta like LFOs except it is a sequence rather than wave.

I'd call it one sequencer with four tracks because that's pretty much how DSI describe it but of course this is splitting hairs somewhat as far as terminology goes . You can route any of the tracks to any modulation destination.

Let's just paste what it says in da book then for the sake of clarity shall we:

Mopho features a 4 x 16 “analog-style” step sequencer that can generate four
separate sequence tracks of up to 16 steps each. Individual sequencer tracks can
be routed to any standard modulation destination (see the table on page 26).
Using VCA Envelope as a destination, for example, varies the volume of each
step; a destination of Filter or Filter Envelope Amount will produce different
filter settings per step. Typically, however, at least one sequence is routed to an
oscillator to control pitch.

I got a MoPho last week. It is sitting happily next to my Evolver.

I don't think the interface is that bad. The sound is similar--I haven't had it long enough to discover it's "voice".

Anyway, it fills a hole in my setup. And it does so at a bargain price.

I think that's terrible to be honest. Nothing worse than another menu driven laptop screen in a box, analog or not
