Keyboard Stands

Any recommendations on a two or 3 tier stand? Industrial strength is a must as it is going to support 100-150 lbs. If one tier could go flat it would be great. For whatever reason a Prophet VS requires a flat surface. The price is right on these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0306169707 but I suspect there is a good reason.

I personally use double braced X-stands. Very sturdy, don't rock. I can stand on in it and it won't tip. Then again I think mine is from the 80's, all metal, even the teeth locks. It alone weighs about 40-50 lbs. But some people will tell you A-frame is the best, so it depends really. A-frame is a b***h to move and set back up though. X is much easier to transport and set up. Go to a music store and see what you like most.

I have a 3-tier standtastic stand [see below] that is rock-steady and tough. It also breaks down easily and packs in ts own gigbag for gigging. It can bear 100 lbs per tier.

I've been considering one of the Standtastic stands. Has anyone used the 3 tier stand with and added 4th tier? If so, opinions, please. Also, how deep can the keyboard supports extend to? I've got several deep vintage synths.

I have four boards on three tiers -- my Fantom sits on top of my Vox on the lowest tier. And the tier arms extend to 24". They are long enough to accommodate the Vox, and I don't think even a CS-80 is as deep as that. The stand is 57" tall, and you can run tiers right to the top, so it will accommodate four tiers, easily. And you can get accessory shelves, mic booms, etc. that attach to the rails.

i just recently got a double braced on-stage stand for 29.95 USD0 on sweetwater and it was another 29.95 for the second tier. not sure about the quality, i hope it will hold out well

Looks great JL... It appears that all tiers on the Standtastic stands have adjustable angles. Is that right? I've been looking for a stand that would allow me to keep the bottom tier at an angle, and with all of the double-braced X-stands the bottom tier must be flat without some sort of modification.

That is correct. You can tilt all the tiers down, in something like 10 degree increments [I don't have a protractor].

I'm now in need of a 3-tier stand myself, as I only have a small section of wall to the corner, in terms of space. I currently have an QuikLok double-braced 2-tier X-stand. I could get a universal third tier, but the second tier isn't completely level, as the arms don't adjust inward at the same level.

The Standtastic 3-tier is very appealing, but I noticed another 3-tier model, the QuikLok QL-699 that is a little less expensive ($125 vs. $199 for the Standtastic) and wondered if anyone here has used it? Thoughts?

this drives me bonkers. it took me a few minutes to figure out that the 2nd tier was just inherently like this -- at first i thought i just wasn't setting them level. as for that stand you posted, i've never used one, but those two lower legs that come to the ground (closest to the player) don't look so hot -- i guess you'd be putting a lot of faith in the welds there.

Yeah, those front legs look a little small on their own and unfortunately none of the music stores around me utilize these stands as displays (they don't have any keyboard specialists, either). I saw one post on KSS praising it, but that's it. There really isn't a lot of feedback regarding 3-tier keyboard stands on any of the forums (here, Gearslutz, KSS).

Looks good. Can you adjust the height of the tiers, move them closer together?
I'm currently using a 2-tier Invisible stand, but may add a third 'board, so would like 3 tiers.
I'd like to be able to adjust the space between the 'boards. This is for live and home, I'd be
sitting/standing at it, 27" - 29" throne. Thx
