anyone winds up getting one, let us know what you think!Voice-controlled Synth The Vocoder also features a voice-controlled synth mode—considered by many as the Holy Grail for vocoding. Prior to VoiceTone Synth, vocoding required your voice (the exciter), and an instrument input (the carrier) to make cool vocoded sounds. Of course VoiceTone Synth supports the dual input method, but for artists who don't have another instrument or don't play one, VoiceTone Synth can generate a synth part directly from your vocal and vocode that. The result? Generated vocoder parts with one input: your voice.

Demo'ed it, same as the V256 with the extra distortion wingding.

Re: TC Helicon VoiceTone Synth / EHX V256
i haven't checked out the V256, wondered what the difference was between that & the voicebox...
edit: that's awesome, pulls the same tricks as the TC for less $! maybe i should change the thread's title?

Re: TC Helicon VoiceTone Synth / EHX V256
I have/had a demo of the V256 in TI/on a boat/hard bend mode somewhere.
Anyways, it's a pretty neat trick, I have a ton of fun with it, but it sends a load, so it is a b***h to chain with other FX before it.
The TC does have all the I/O mess on the back, which I prefer though.

plus USB for updates & such, though the V256 you can even play as a synth via midi...

Boss makes one too, it's a multi effect double pedal that can track a vocal's pitch without the input of another instrument.

yeah, VE-20, that one has a 38 second mono loop, too... no midi though. the EHX having midi so it can be sequenced kind of does it for me. all three are very cool though.
wish EHX would make something like the slicer...

You like the Slicer? I wish it had more options for controlling the slices and such. Sounds awesome on loops and drum machines, especially with delay applied, but it was just too jumped up for anything else.space6oy wrote:yeah, VE-20, that one has a 38 second mono loop, too... no midi though. the EHX having midi so it can be sequenced kind of does it for me. all three are very cool though.

really want to check out one of these. sounds interesting that the voice can be used as the carrier, and the modulator being the synth.

just messed w/ it a few minutes @ GC, thought it was pretty cool. too bad you can't program your own patterns in that thing, but still amusing.tallowwaters wrote:You like the Slicer? But these units have Autotune in them
For vocoding they look fun though. Sound pretty good. Wonder if they can do format stuff, for male/female.

Yes, they have formant control via the Gender Bender control.stikygum wrote:But these units have Autotune in them![]()

Nothing wrong with hard tuning, it's a h**l of a lot fun, and isn't the magical cure all that the noobs think it is. If you sing out of key it is terribly noticeable. I like the way it sounds and have been smearing it on quite a few tracks as it sounds even better in a more rockish context.

Re: TC Helicon VoiceTone Synth / EHX V256
Funny, the only songs I've heard autotune sound good is some rock songs also. I actually thought Kayne West's Love Lockdown was decent and didn't have a lot of the jumpyness other users choose to go with (probably just his vocal), but since most hip hop uses it these days, I haven't hardly heard any that sound good with it besides that. Another story...

Re: TC Helicon VoiceTone Synth / EHX V256
I was reading the instruction manual on the V256 and It doesn't say anything about being able to control the internal synth with your voice's pitch... HMMMmmmmmmm
