SH2 prices
Any chances of finding an SH2 for the value of both my Tetra and MKS 50 combined ? is the SH9 more common and/or go for less ?
Re: SH2 prices
I'm sure you could, I'm asking $750 shipped for an sh2 right now and if you could sell both of those for that price you got a deal

for sale/trade: EML-101

Or you could do what I did and mod an SH-101 with an audio input, control another synth via CV/Gate with it, and send that synth's output to the 101's input, and get something even fatter than an SH2

Seriously, these vintage prices are like paying for two synths and getting one these days. Sell it all and go software before it's too late.

I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

Sounds good, but I'm not the techy type outside of battery changes (I would not want to destroy anything)

Re: SH2 prices
lol get something fatter than an sh2 out of a sh-101?
first off the sh-101 is selling for nearly the same price these days... maybe you got yours when they were cheaper? No way can the weaker sounding single oscillator of the sh-101 sound fatter since you could do the same mod to an sh2 which has two oscs. I'm not bashing the 101 but come on...
I'll pm you about the details of the sh2
also consider most "overpriced" vintage synths are just now starting to reach the same price as they were when they were new I would hardly call it that insane or go running for a software synth (which is only cheap if you steal them like most people)
anyways we have all been spoiled over the last few years, it will be awhile until prices are truly insane.

Re: SH2 prices
'Tis true I got my 101 for $220 in 1999. Listen to that clip on speakers with bass and tell me it doesn't sound fat. It's the 101 filter that does it, and that snappy envelope.
Back on topic, $750 seems like a good deal to me. I saw one in Guitar Center go for about that in 2003, and it wasn't a co-signer sale. Can't imagine what they would charge now.

Re: SH2 prices
I've had my SH-2 for 20 years. It was my first monosynth and pretty much my favorite mono for traditional/musical sounds and some sound fx and external processing.
Given the current state of vintage synth prices, Nada's price of $750 shipped is a great deal (plus he's a great trader). I've seen SH-2's sell for close to a grand in the past year.

Re: SH2 prices
The SH-101 sounds great to me, but it is a very different sound than the SH-2. SH-101 is the more modern (in comparison) CEM sound. The SH-series is 70s discrete analog, and sounds it. I think the SH-101 is awesome for fast, sequenced lines, but it doesn't have the VCO tone or envelope shape of the SH-2.nadafarms wrote:lol get something fatter than an sh2 out of a sh-101?...No way can the weaker sounding single oscillator of the sh-101 sound fatter since you could do the same mod to an sh2 which has two oscs. I think it is. I paid $750 for my SH-2 w/Roland hardcase back in the Spring of 2007.Solderman wrote:Back on topic, $750 seems like a good deal to me.
Agreed! It doesn't do a lot by virtue of its design, but that said, what it does do, it does so very well!Z wrote:Given the current state of vintage synth prices, Nada's price of $750 shipped is a great deal...
cheers,

Re: SH2 prices
500-800 euro around here.
I've been looking around for one, but I'd definitely draw the limit at somewhere around 600€. 70s vintage or not.
