This song is f**k terrible, one of the worst things I've heard in a long time along with Deadmau5.
To answer the OP's question, I don't see or hear any Jean Michel Jarre references... to me it looks like he's trying to mimic 80's new wave which Jarre was not really a part of. But sonically it just sounds like generic modern R n' B/Hip Hop... really dry production and beats with a couple of preset sounds over the top.

Exactly why I hate hipsters. No respect for the old, just the use of it as a gimmick.Pro5 wrote:sounds like someone trying too hard and missing the point. I don't feel any passion in this, just as other's have said, a bit of bandwagon jumping. There's some proper indie 'synth pop' that sounds more like the real deal and is done out of love of the era not just to sell records.
Because he's just too cool 4 school.

I love the video and the song! Definitively I prefer things like this than all the gaga rubbish.. It's always pop, it cannot be too intellectual, but at least this is actually a catchy tune in my opinion very well produced.
If I had to think of influences for the song and the video I wouldn't say JMJ, rather new-wave stuff as someone has said before, but also space age/space disco, at least in the visual style. The voice of the girl reminds me of Kim Wilde.
This is all the gear I managed to spot in the video
SIMMONS SDS-V

ROLAND JUNO-6 with a "Seven-segment display" mod

CRUMAR MULTIMAN

???? #1 (the one underneath)

???? #2

???? #3

YAMAHA CS6x

I believe the synth in #4 is a Yamaha CS6x with the colours inverted in post production.

#3 is one of those late 80's Yammy Electone organs - methinks.

Is #2 a Vox Continental? (Super Continental? What was the two-manual version called...)
Switches, knobs, buttons, LEDs, LCD screens, monitors, keys, mice, jacks, sockets. Now two joysticks!

He doesn't really know how to use drumpads, it would seem. Criminal.
Moog LP + Casio SK1 and MT-75 + tube amp = good tone.
