I suspect that it was designed for the more-money-than-brains crowd

It's probably a great synth, too, just not in line with their other product-line pricing. Costs double what an OS does for the same synth+some extra keys and $700 of CV control, which is too bad.

A good example of this is the OB-XA. What it cost new in 1981 would be the equivalent of over $13,000 in today's dollars. Kinda makes $5K JP8's look like a bargain. And speaking of the Jupiter, anyone know offhand how much those cost when they were new?
