If you're interested in out-there stuff, you can also check out Paris' GRM school of musique concrete composers (say between 1965-80). Many used modular and other synths in ways that are both old and new (to our ears). The only hiccup is that many of their recordings are still in vinyl only, unless someone corrects me.
