That's my other go-to synth. It's pretty reliable and works just as well as an effect to run other stuff through. Also, I never have any trouble getting it to fit in a mix. It pairs up with the Juno nicely, although neither of them seem to really exude warmth. The MS-20 has the cough, and the Juno-60 has the syrup.

I've been using the Indigo 2 for a lot of things...it's so nice to throw filters and effects over a patch on the fly, and then add in some FM for crunch. This is the easiest synth for live play that I've ever messed with, and because of that I tend to use it a whole lot.

I've been using my Juno 106 and yamaha cp-70 since they are both new and unexplored. Some of the stuff I've been doing makes me want to bring out the cz-5000 but I just haven't had the time to sit down with it. I find it easy to program you just need spend a little time to really tweak to get what you want out of it.

I've been taking my MS-20 out on gigs lately since I've been playing in a band that does a lot of 80's Synth Pop. A few people usually come up and ask me about it thinking it looks somewhat like a modular Moog. Unfortunately, I can't fill the requests for the Lucky Man solo due to the short key range.

My Jupiter 6 is in the shop having Europa installed. I will be using it on gigs as soon as it's done.

It depends: I have three distinct set ups that connect with each other.

1. On the far right is the mini guerrilla gig set up consisting of a Korg Prophecy, MS 2000R and a Roland MC 505 with a Roland MC 50 sequencer. The Theremin is also part of this. I go to this set up when getting ready for a live show or making stuff up that can be played live.

2. Center set up is even more basic, but no less full of sound. It's a Roland JP 8000 with a Korg M3 module w/ Radias EXP. Although the keyboard action on the Roland is not as nice as say the Prophecy, it does allow me to use the sliders and knobs on the JP 8000 to control some parameters of sound etc in the M3. I go to this when I want some instant gratification and to sketch out ideas using the M3's sequencer.

3. More challenging, more esoteric is the analogue (mostly) corner consisting of a Moog Voyager, Kenton MIDI to CV, Future Retro Orb, Casio VL-Tone, Yamaha QX10, Korg SDD 4000 DD, Future Retro Orb sequencer, Alesis SR18, Boss Dr. Rhythm 110, Yamaha QY-10 and a MacBeth M5. The QX 7 allows me to step write sequences and the Orb allows me to write on the fly to a certain extent. This section is synced with the wonders of MIDI. I go to this when I'm in an experimental mood, usually after scrutinizing all the other M5 videos on the 'net.

If I needed sync all three set ups to each other, they are already to go. Midi from #1 goes into #2 which goes into #3. It's just a matter of changing the appropriate MIDI clocks. Also, as a bonus and thanks to multi midi boxes (pocket midi), I can use my Korg D3200 multi track recorder as a master clock.

Last night, I went to #3.

Another advantage of this - is when I have people over to jam, they can choose which part of the 3 options they would like to play with. They're spread out enough that no one really bumps into each other.

Just a quick question - when
I try to sync my jp8000 to an external
Midi clock - it just sticks to its own clock.. Which is fine because i can just set it to the tempo I desire - but it's a little annoying. Also - I've been neglecting my Jp, but I was programming it yesterday and no matter what I did it sounded flat... Maybe I just need to start using it

If you press the shift button and then MIDI SW, you'll find a sync option. Try that.

I tried that - made sure it was on... but it didn't work... I'm using fl studio if that helps.

No it doesn't.

Is your main MIDI clock set to MTC or MIDI Clock master? It should be MIDI Clock master otherwise the JP 8000 may not recognize it and default to internal (I think).

I'll have to check that when I get back home - that's probably it, fl is pretty confusing with technical stuff like that.. Thanks for the help

I'd like to know how you make out with this as I might learn a new trick with my set up too.

ah i believe i have found the solution... where it says send master sync - it was unchecked for each midi input... i must have overlooked that.

now the only thing that con-fuddles me is how the time value for the JP8000's delay translates to ms or note lengths...
