Alesis are creating the Vortex a Keytar MIDI controller with 37 keys on it. I think that it looks great and it is on my wish list of stuff to get

It's a MIDI controller, doesn't make sound, it just controls software/hardwareZ wrote:Um, MIDI keytars have been around for nearly 3 decades. Personally, I have Korg RK-100, Roland AX-1 and Yamaha KX5.
Other popular models are Casio AZ-1, Roland Axis and the Lync controllers made famous by Jan Hammer.
The models I listed are also CONTROLLERS with no built-in sound generator.Xces wrote:It's a MIDI controller, doesn't make sound, it just controls software/hardwareZ wrote:Um, MIDI keytars have been around for nearly 3 decades. Personally, I have Korg RK-100, Roland AX-1 and Yamaha KX5.

I do agree I remember I wanted one of those new Roland AX ones but they were over 1000$ which was too much for me to affordAlex E wrote:It actually does have a MIDI out, but yeah, this is nothing new as far as the idea itself.
HOWEVER, For the -price- it is something new, as Roland has been ridiculously gouging the prices for their newer keytars for ages.
Yeah I know, though I don't understand why Alesis decided to claim that they were the first though meh, oh well still the Vortex has got me wanting it badlycryabetes wrote:I called them out on their 'first ever' claim on fb too, their marketing department is definitely been being misleading douches lately.
