TEAC 2A maple side panles and walnut armrest:
HAND-CRAFTED, high-efficiency loudspeakers.
Based on the PI Speakers Studio 2 PI, I modified the size and tuning slightly. I also, included my signature cork-lined baffle. Nothing fancy, just good, void-free russian birch and tightly-joined rabbet joints. About a bazillion thin coats of tung oil and finished with paste wax and a buffing.
They sound fantastic with my Bottlehead 2A3 single-ended, tube amps (3.5 watts per channel) as well as a vintage JVC hi-fi power amp. They use an Eminence 10" woofer and a Vifa tweeter... the x-overs are super simple and use good parts... gold binding posts, OFC copper inductors, fllm capacitor etc. These will work great with those little D-class, T-amps that are popular now with the DIYers, as well.
The sound is somewhere between my Audio Note (Snell type) Js and the old Klipsch Heresys. Oldschool style woofer with a silk-dome tweeter in a simple, classic, two-way design... tuned to around 40hz, boxes measure 22" (H) x 13.5 (W) x 11" (D).
This pair for $450 plus shipping.
Also, custom-made to order with choice of finish and wood, 4-5 weeks wait.
