Moog Taurus I vs Moog Taurus II

Post by walkathon » Mon Apr 30, 2012 2:55 pm

Lots of I vs III shootouts there, but no actual I vs II sound comparisons out there.
True, there's different circuitry involved, but a sonic battle between the two MIGHT give the TII some cred finally.
Can anyone help a synth brother out by doing either an audio A/B or youtube clip? :ugeek:

I may be mistaken, but I think the Taurus II is basically just a Rogue with pedals instead of keys. Never used a Taurus of any kind, though. But I have used a Rogue extensively.

Not sure that helps.

I had the Taurus II, owned it for a few years, gigged with it. Tried the Taurus III and backed out from buying it. Currently own a Taurus I, already owned for several years, couldn't be happier.

The Taurus I destroys the Taurus II soundwise. The II is more versatile than the I because it's a full Rogue module, thus it has the overdrive, sustain (Hold), S&H, plus it has a 1 1/2 (big) pedalboard. But the bass lacks big time compared to the Taurus I. The tone and voice of the II's bass is not bad, but the I's bass has subsonic qualities that makes it unique.
