My first recording with Oberheim Xpander
I bought the Oberheim Xpander, after a few hours I did this recording. This is my first analog/hardware synth, I have only been using software synths before...
it sounds very close to Mario Schönwälder. I am just improvising, did record 4 tracks one by one.
The bass, should have been recorded through a sequencer, to get that berlin school sequencer sound...
I will try to do it next time..I am also considering to buy a hardware sequencer.
All feedback is very appreciated thanks!

Thank you a lot!Infinity Curve wrote:Nice work. I like the feel of this track, very epic.
I will try to record more when I have received my midi cables... I have also bought the explorer editor.
If you ask me, The xpander is almost unusuable if you want to tweak it in real time...but the xplorer editior really opens upp a new universe for this synth!!!

nice track!
somehow this reminds me of rain falling on a roof as a ninja looks contemplatively out at the city.

Is that the highpass filter on the pad? I'm borrowing an Xpander at the moment, and seems like most of the brighter sounds I get are 'cleaner' sounding than this. A pleasant multi-track improvisation, btw.
I am no longer in pursuit of vintage synths. The generally absurd inflation from demand versus practical use and maintenance costs is no longer viable. The internet has suffocated and vanquished yet another wonderful hobby. Too bad.

I wouldnt have thought that myself but reading it from you made it a clear picture in my head with this track.jeffrey1121 wrote:nice track!![]()

Hello, I do not remember exactely, but what I remember is that I did use the presets I might have tweaked slightly such as cut off on the filter and resonance.Solderman wrote:Is that the highpass filter on the pad? Regarding "cleaner" sounds, well I do not know, but I can tell you that I use a quite extensive effect chain also to produce this sound, and a lot of reverb which make it sound less "clear" I guess.

Been watching too many ninja movies ?jeffrey1121 wrote:nice track!![]()

If you ask me ninjas are probably the last thing that I had in my mind.

Re: My first recording with Oberheim Xpander
it's probably the percussive sound - something similar is used in a lot of scores for an "eastern" sound.
I like the fizziness of the pads, what's being used in the "extensive effects chain", if you don't mind me asking?
