Mooghead on the Minibrute
I've always been that Moog snob, but this little thing sounds pretty cool too... (all sounds minus the Roland drum machine = Arturia Minibrute) Sorry I didn't probably didn't post this on that 47 plus thread, but I figured since this thing is now out of the bag, we could use a NEW thread!

thanks for sharing that fun little song. how are you liking the Minibrute so far, being the admitted Moog snob you are? picked mine up earlier this week and just now having a proper go at it, my first real analog since unloading a Juno 60 several years ago. definitely loving it, has me thinking of pairing it with a Minitaur or going modular.

Cool song
I think Minibrute has a sound, quite different than the heavier and smoother sound of the modern Moog.

Re: Mooghead on the Minibrute
Thanks! In answer to your question, it has a more rounded sound than I was anticipating, not as harsh, although you can MAKE it harsh with a couple quick adjustments- I used it live in place of the Voyager and was surprised at how it still sat on top of the mix without being obnoxious, if you know what I mean- Its timbre is less Moog and more Arp and less Odyessy and more Axxe, at least in my opinion- you could compare it to a MS10 too- It pairs well with the Moog, especially running the Moog into the Minibrute with the arpeggiator running a bassline, while the Moog plays the melody!

I totally agree. The more I think about it, the more I want to pair my Moog LP and Minibrute. Minibrute has a noise source which my LP lacks and also MB can mix waveforms in a different way than the Moog does.Moped10 wrote:It pairs well with the Moog, especially running the Moog into the Minibrute with the arpeggiator running a bassline, while the Moog plays the melody!

yeah! the filter on the minibrute sounds close to the LP filter when you have its overdrive cranked up- and its noise source is great!the more I want to pair my Moog LP and Minibrute.

Well your video was commented on by Yusynth and featured on Arturia's official fb, so nice job.

haha! that's funny- the song's/videos I spend the least amount of time on always are the ones folks like! as Fred Willard says, "Wha Happened!?"

Re: Mooghead on the Minibrute
I am kind of unnerved that you could compare the MiniBrute to lowpass-only synths... especially those with 24db per octave. My experience with the MiniBrute lends me the belief, born of the fact that it has a 12 dB per oct multimode filter, that the standard analog synths have relatively little in common with it.
While the MiniBrute does have a 12 dB lowpass filter like the MS-10, the fact that it is multimode AND has such unique oscillator functionality lends me to think that only a tiny fraction of it has anything in common with that synthesizer.

well, I've only had it a week for one thing- and what I say is just my opinion- sorry you're unnerved, but I haven't gotten to play with a tenth of the synths you have, so my ears are much less synth-cultured, so to speak...I am kind of unnerved that you could compare the MiniBrute to lowpass-only synths... especially those with 24db per octave.
